Muin Mound Grove Business Meeting - 6/30/91

Minutes for ADF meeting held 6/30/91.

The meeting was held at Skip's house. Present were Skip, Georgeanna, and Bev. We talked about filling out the paperwork for a provisional charter and having it notarized. Georgeanna will call her lawyer Monday and set up an appointment to get it done on Tuesday. I'll fill it out before then.
We picked our officers. Georgeanna is Senior Druid, Bev is Pursewarden, and I'm Scribe.
We agreed on $3 a meeting as dues. Also to pass a basket and ask for donations at picnics and rituals we sponsor. I'll order some mailing labels with the Grove name and PO Box number on it.
We discussed what to do for a quarterly project. After reading in todays paper about the sad shape of Schuller Park in the city, we decided to see about setting up a committee of Schuller Park Friends to keep the park clean, if it hasn't already been done. Georgeanna to check into it. Another suggestion from Bev was to set up a book discussion evening to be held at either the Womens Outreach Center or the May Unitarian Church. The discussion would be about what books are available and worthwhile from a Pagan standpoint. Bev will check into prices for renting a room for an evening at each place.
We started planning the Ritual for Sunday, August 4th. The purpose will be the turning of the Wheel of the Year and a celebration of Lughnasadh. Central point of the ritual will be the bringing into the group of the grains of harvest, then an offering and sharing of cakes and breads. Things to be done before the 4th:
1) Line up drinking horns.
2)Get commitments from people who will be there about taking parts in it. (Can be done at Starwood?)
3)Set up a table for wheat, corn, barley, cakes, grape leaves, grape vines around it.
4)Get a small pool and line with black plastic to use as the fourth fire (fire in water).
5)Another suggestion was to have the people smudge the person next to them, then pass the smudge along around the circle. This will get the people more involved. 6)Talk to ALL people that will take part in it for about a half hour or so, just before the Ritual starts. Go over stage directions signals that will be used.
7) Sometime during the evening, hold a chant workshop.
8)Explain to people that some type of invocation should be disclaimed before drinking of the Waters of Life. Give examples beforehand.
9) Work out how the other fires will be placed and lit.
