| Muin Mound Grove Business Meeting
- Online - 11/18/02 to 11/22/02
Ohayo minna,
First of all... *bows repeatedly* Gomen nasai for the tardiness of this
post. My life has suddenly decided to get extremely busy and while that
is
no excuse... it is an explanation. But, here are the minutes from the
last
online business meeting.
Muin Mound Grove: Online Business Meeting: Nov 18-22
Kia opened the meeting on Sunday, November 18.
Old Business:
None discussed.
New Business:
Kia requested that people holding positions within the Grove; make a
report
as to what they felt their duties entailed. The following reports were
submitted:
Chronicler:
The Chronicler is responsible for the print and web versions of Muin Light,
the publication of Muin Mound Grove, ADF. As editor in chief the Chronicler
is responsible for content, layout, and timely distribution of the
periodical eight times a year to coincide with the turns of the wheel.
At
present time the Chronicler is also the webmaster of the main Muin Mound
Grove, ADF web site and the coordinator the web sites of the emerging
guilds. The Chronicler reports to the Sr. Druid, and the Assistant Sr.
Druid as necessary in the execution of these duties. –Damiana Bloom
Assistant Senior Druid:
First and foremost, the Assistant Senior Druid is here in case the Senior
Druid is unavailable, to step into whatever capacity necessary at the
time.
The ASD is appointed to both support the SD at community meetings outside
the Grove (or to stand in for him/her) and to support the Grove membership
by encouraging appropriate common endeavors and is a mediator if necessary.
The ASD is an open ear and an open heart, a conduit yet a pillar of the
community. The ASD is an administrative person, fulfilling duties
appropriate to the Senior Druid, which have been duly delegated. –Laurel
Media Liaison:
1) With directive from the Archdruid or Senior Druid, will put out press
releases and photo opportunity notices to local and national media
2) Research ways to get positive press from local media
3) Coordinate spokesperson's schedules, set up talking points if needed
4) Work with producer, reporter on talking points
5) Send out information to other egroups and major organizations per
directive from the Archdruid or Senior Druid
6) Work with other local groups per directive from the Senior Druid.
–Liannon
Greeter:
The purpose of the Greeter is to acknowledge a new person and introduce
to
different folk of the grove, give them information on the grove, answer
questions, and make them feel welcome. I will be unable to do this during
the winter months as I cannot handle the cold with Reynauds - it is
senseless to try to gut it out as one suggested - as amputation of limbs
is
not in the Goddesses or my own interest. Though I will not be present
at
Yule due to a conflict, if Skip and Sharon okay it. I would be glad to
greet
and then just read in the house until everyone comes back from ritual.
This
is something that I feel will have to be approved or I will be glad to
resign this responsibility to those healthier than I. I will still be
glad
to work on the pages and the writing involved in the booklets etc if I
am
wanted.
-Liannon
Grove Archivist:
I see the duties of the grove archivist as one of record keeping. It's
something I've been doing since the grove started, now why do I keep hearing
the phrase 'pack rat?' As archivist I'll keep copies of all the
newsletters, hopefully both hardcopy and on disk, hint Carol ;) I'll also
be taking more pictures at our events to put on the web site and to add
to
our photo album. The records will be available to anyone in the grove
that
needs them. I have copies of all the newsletters back to 1991 except for
2
and copies of all the rituals done since the grove was founded. –Skip
Fire Maiden:
The Fire Maiden (or Lord) is responsible for building the sacred fire,
lighting it (and usually the charcoal for the incense as well), building
the
smaller fires on the 'high days', and consecrating the space. I tend the
fire throughout the ritual, trying to maintain it at times that don't
disturb the 'flow'. Therefore I have to have a fairly good knowledge of
ritual order to know when it needs to be built and when offerings
(especially oil) will be made. I also feel it is my responsibility to
watch
(closely at times) anyone approaching the fire with praise offerings,
etc.
Many people are unaware of how flammable their clothing may be, and cloaks
and dresses (ie, Phoenix- she gives me a heart attack at times ^_~ ),
have
a tendency to blow into the flames. Being the Fire Maiden is a way for
me
to contribute in ritual without having to be 'on the spot' as I really
dislike that. There are times when I would like to enjoy ritual without
having to constantly be aware of the fire, but for the most part I enjoy
my
job thoroughly
Scribe:
The Scribe’s role is fairly well documented already, as it is one
of the
three elected positions.
Kia also posed the question of whether or not rituals will be held out
doors
this winter. Kia expressed her opinion that the energies are better out
in
the Nemeton, but also that the outdoor space may not be completely
accessible for all during the winter months. Skip offered to drive the
tractor out with a wagon, so people do not have to walk all the way out.
Various people expressed their views, for and against meeting outside.
[Scribe’s note: I do not believe a decision was ever clearly made.]
Report from the Bardic Guild:
As organizer of the Bardic Guild I would like to file an update. We have
a
preliminary set of bylaws that will be voted on by the members of the
guild.
To date we have 7 members. I will do a second reading and posting of the
bylaws in a week or so to iron out any discrepancies. The calendar year
of
the guild will run from Imbolc to Imbolc in honor or Lady Brigid. And
elections will coincide with that.
The guild has a meeting scheduled for Dec 9th at 12:30 pm at Seven Rays
for
the purpose of practicing Yule carols. And hopefully we will sing for
some
senior residents in the Syracuse community on Dec 15th. Details are still
being arranged.
Other ideas for events are on the drawing board and will be discussed
on the
guild discussion board if need be.
respectfully submitted,
DB (Bardic Guild Organizer)
This meeting was called to a close by Kia on November 22, it was seconded
by
Sharon.
Respectfully submitted,
Willow Nimfeach, Scribe
