Imbolc Children's Ritual

*NOTE: This ritual was done at the Imbolc 2005 and led by 2 children, ages 3 and 4 with the help of 1 adult. There were 11 adults present along with the 2 children.

1) Consecration of Space - Done by all the children and one adult.

2) Aspersing and Censing – Done by the children as people enter the sacred space.

3) Processional – Chant - We Are A Circle Moving - Words - MP3 file

4) Earth Mother – Pass a stone for Mother Earth and everyone says what they feel in it.

5) Bardic Invocation – Ring bell 3 times, done by the children.

6) Unity Chant – Chant - As One - Words - MP3 file

7) Two Power Meditation – Walking the circle with the dish of water and candle letting everyone feel both. Water carried by one of the children, candle by an adult.

8) Historical Precedent – Large format book. We are in the process of creating a 'book' for each of the holidays that tells the children why we gather to do ritual on this holiday. Imbolc Book

10) Gatekeeper – Done by an adult
“We call to Manannan;
Grey bearded one,
Rider of the ninth wave”
Everyone – “Let the Gates be Opened!”

11) Kindred offerings - Done by the children.
Simple for all but diety - Brigit

12) Praise Offering – Offerings of flower faeries made by kids and individual offerings by kids.

13) Omen – Candy hearts.

14) Return Flow – Chocolate candies in heart box carried around by one of the children.

15) Thanking the Kindreds - Done by the children.

16) Thanking Gatekeeper & close gates - Done by an adult.

17) Reverse two power – affirmations started by adult, last adult says – “I see a circle of whole people, healthy, happy and wonderful. Back in our own bodies, our hearts beating, our faces showing feelings, our arms ache for embrace.”

18) Group Hug.

19) Announcement of end.
